Édito

Plastic in Wild 5

The purpose of this post is to update, inform and explain. I want to let you know what I’ve been up to, why I haven’t blogged recently and the changes I want to make. I wasn’t sure what to call this post; I’ve always like the idea of an Editor’s Letter in magazines, it seems so important and precedes everything else – the first word that sets the tone of a publication. Obviously this blog is no magazine, but the beauty of being the sole contributor means I am the editor by default, so here is my version of an editor’s letter. And Édito? French for editorial, of course.

I’ve not written anything on here for a while because of university. Deadlines, exams and socials (!) have all restricted my time, but it doesn’t mean blogging has taken a backseat. I’ve been taking note of artists I’ve discovered in Instagram and thinking of new ways to create content. Now it’s the holidays I can hopefully get back on track.

As for this blog, I’ve decided that I will stick to two posts per week: the first will be about an artist, most likely in English with French and German summaries. The second will be my own photography/artwork, however there will probably be a few captions, with more emphasis on visual content.

And finally, I’ve written a review of Rachel Maclean’s ‘Wot u :- ) about?’ for The State Of The Arts, which you can read here. I really enjoyed going to the exhibition and thinking about the concepts behind the work. I’m planning on doing more reviews in the future.

I’ll be writing more posts soon (plastic sheets will make an appearance, be warned) and I hope you all have a great Christmas!
